NightWalker by Ime Atakpa

The Thrush Family has suffered a terrible curse for three hundred years. The most recent victim in the family, Hubert has been inflicted and tortured by the night walks.

Watching his parents mourn his disappearance, he discovers himself being tortured continuously by the eerie silence and inability to be heard or take action. After much pain and self-loathing, he decides that nothing is impossible. He will find a way for restoration and end the torment his parents as well as himself endures.

NightWalker by Ime Atakpa is extremely well written and has perfect grammar and editing. The author has a skill of developing the story and the characters. The main character, Hubert, faces a dilemma and though the storyline is well groomed, the beginning is drawn out, almost drowns out the plot and direction.

The pieces will fall together and hook you in if you give it the chance. The author has left an opening for Hubert’s story to continue and I am hoping Book 1 is just an introduction to the real jewels of this adventure.

My advice and suggestion for the author are to lighten the load of over describing the minute details in the beginning and keep it simple. Sometimes less is more.

I give NightWalker by Ime Atakpa a rating of Three. This is NOT a bad rating, it means I like the story and the characters but there are improvements that could be made.

Teenage romance blossoms through Lost Legends

Rylie, a typical teenager distraught about her parents divorce and rebellious against their decision to protect her from the evil of the process, is forced to attend a summer camp.

Shy and timid, she hides in the pages of her journal where she feels protected in a cocoon away from the mean girls who care more about fashion and bullying.

 

Safe that it is until she is attacked in the woods by an enstranged wild animal and her memory lost of the attack or how she made it back to the camp safely.

Meeting Seth a boy supposedly from the other camp that is forbidden, Rylie soon learns that she only has three months to keep from changing into the evil creature that has changed her life forever.

After the death of her father, will her love for Seth and for being human be enough reason for her to fight the change? Or will she sacrifice herself to save the campers and the boy she loves?

S. M. Reine creates a unique love story that blossoms from the horrific truth of an ancient legend. She keeps you on the edge of your seat and glued to what the characters will do next.

Its hard to find a story that captivates me long enough to finish reading it in a couple of days. I love this first novel in the Seasons of the Moon series and l am looking forward to reading the next chapter in Rylie’s story.

Review on Desmond Cory’s “On the Gulf”

I can honestly say that this is the first time I have read a psychological thriller that pulled at me and wouldn’t let me put it down. Typically this would be a movie that I would go see with the husband but not really be interested in. This story was different and I highly enjoyed it. On the Gulf by Desmond Cory drew me into a world of an Arabic state called Fariq where political battles involving greed and power struggles take place.

At first Desmond Cory slowly introduces you to Kevin Bone and his interaction with a highly powerful Rashid Sheikh, creating the atmosphere and ambience of the world where he will snag you with a hook and pull you in as if you were a fish on a line. Although there is a lot of violence fueled by the greed and desire for power you are dipped into the lives of others who are connected to the events, not only physically but mentally as well.

Desmond Cory has created a world with characters that are both good and evil and you the reader will experience both sides to the nature of their souls. Cory has a talent and skill with revealing explicit details and a style of writing that will allow the words to flow like colorful pictures in a movie. I definitely recommend this book and invite readers to step out of their normal genres to take an adventure into a world they otherwise would likely not visit.

 

 

 

Interesting thoughts to ponder…

Some suggestions were laid out before me today.  Ideas that some I have already been thinking and others that I never really thought twice about.  All of these were suggested to me by someone close that I would have never guessed in a million years would even suggest to me.  Shocking but also very sweet and interesting.  Thanks Bro!

Now my passionate itch to write is ignited again even though lately I have not had the time with this crazy busy schedule of life.  I have realized though that I have to make time to express my passion or I become overflowing with imagination and feel drained.

I am going to make the time for myself.  My life belongs to me and I have got to quit giving it to others.

So on that note…I am jumping back in and going to turn that faucet back and let the water flow regardless of the distractions all around me.  I have to.  I am not living if I don’t.

As soon as I can will start obtaining the materials needed to start some real submissions, marketing, and promotions.  And possibly now looking into or rather researching some screen-writing.

The other spark has excited me a tiny bit in the regards of a future possible memoir that is not my usual genre of expression but one I think will be fun, sad, and liberating.

The possibilities are endless and I look forward to what the future may hold in store!
